The Zoo, located in Los Angeles' Griffith Park, is home to 1,200 animals from around the world. It has been successful in its breeding program of the rare California Condor, helping to grow the number of condors in the world from a low of 22 in the 1980s to several hundred condors today.
Among the highlights of the public zoo grounds are naturalistic habitats for chimpanzees, orangutans, koalas and for the komodo dragon.
